Locomotive 401 stretches her legs at the Monticello Railway Museum on the central Illinois prairie. These steam-powered operating days bring the museum's flagship engine out of the shop and onto a working short line, where you can ride behind 401 and watch the all-volunteer crew at trackside. A rare chance to see a preserved American steam locomotive earn her keep on an active railroad.
