Privacy Policy

Effective June 7, 2026 · implementation details reviewed August 25, 2026

USA Train Rides (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates usatrainrides.com (the “Site”), a trip-planning directory of U.S. train rides and rail attractions. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using the Site you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Usage and device data (automatically). When you visit, our hosting provider receives standard technical data — IP address, browser type and user-agent. If you choose “Allow analytics,” PostHog and Google Analytics also receive visit and interaction data so we can understand which trip-planning pages are useful.
  • Outbound-click data. When you use a tracked affiliate, official-site, or booking link, our first-party redirect can log the destination, the page you came from, your user-agent, and timestamp. This operational click logging is separate from the optional Google Analytics and PostHog choice described below. We use it to understand which links are useful and, where applicable, report aggregate performance. We do not sell this data.
  • Information you give us. If you subscribe to our newsletter, submit an inquiry, or email us, we collect the email address and any details you provide. The Site has no visitor accounts and never asks for passwords or payment information.

Cookies and tracking

Optional analytics and marketing-attribution storage are disabled until you choose “Allow analytics.” If you accept, we remember that choice in your browser and may store the source of your visit for up to 30 days. You can change the choice at any time using “Privacy choices” in the footer. The Site still works if you choose “Necessary only.” That choice controls optional browser analytics; it does not disable the first-party outbound-link logging described above when you choose to follow a tracked outbound link.

Affiliate links and disclosure

The Site contains affiliate links — including to Stay22, Discover Cars, Viator, and GetYourGuide. If you click these and book or purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. These third parties set their own cookies and process your data under their own privacy policies once you leave our Site.

Third-party services we use

We share limited data with providers who process it on our behalf or as independent controllers: Google Analytics and PostHog (optional analytics), Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database, outbound-click logging, and infrastructure), our email providers (newsletter and transactional/inquiry email), and the affiliate networks above. We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We keep analytics and click data as long as needed to operate and improve the Site, and email information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and California CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, opt out of certain processing or “sales/shares,” and withdraw consent. Submit a privacy request through the contact form or email ageorge@usatrainrides.com and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Children’s privacy

The Site is for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in some regions). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy and will revise the effective date above when we do. Material changes appear on this page.
