In a village that was once a busy crossing point for multiple railway lines, the Komoka Railway Museum keeps southwestern Ontario's railway history alive with unique artifacts headlined by a 1913 Shay steam engine and a 1972 Grand Trunk Western caboose. It makes an easy heritage stop just west of London, with the walking trails of Komoka Provincial Park close by for rounding out the visit.
History
The museum preserves the railway story of Komoka, a village in Middlesex Centre, Ontario that grew up as a crossing point for many railway lines and was formerly a railway hot spot, complete with various hotels and development serving the traffic. As that era faded, the Komoka Railway Museum took on the role of keeping the local railway history alive, gathering unique artifacts that include a 1913 Shay geared steam locomotive and a 1972 Grand Trunk Western caboose.

Komoka is a growing village of roughly 1,900 people in the municipality of Middlesex Centre, just west of London, Ontario. Komoka Provincial Park and its walking trails are close by, along with several golf courses — FireRock, named for an old native fire rock found during course construction, Oxbow Glen, and The Oaks. The village itself offers a small downtown around the Foodtown and post office, a second business cluster at Glendon Drive and Komoka Road, and the Komoka Wellness Centre with its twin rinks and YMCA fitness centre.
