About Cheadle Lake Park

Cheadle Lake Park is a large lake, shoreline and trail landscape on Lebanon's south side, about two straight-line miles from the Santiam Excursion depot. The city's trail map connects north- and south-shore routes, and the site has long supported walking, bicycling, wildlife viewing, fishing and major community events.

The park is in a two-phase capital project during 2026. The current project page says Weirich Drive work is complete and lists a new parking lot, fencing and utilities among completed Phase 2 work. It also lists multi-use paths and lighting, access-road paving, stage-area accessible parking, a north restroom and entrance gates as remaining work through November.

A March 26 city notice separately says Weirich Drive parking lots are closed to pedestrians and vehicles through summer, directs trail users to parking on River Road, and asks visitors to remain on designated trails and avoid park grounds. The newer completed-work list does not expressly rescind that notice, so visitors should ask Engineering which entrance and facilities are open that day.

The project goal is a fully accessible year-round park, but a goal is not a completed access fact. Until remaining paths, parking and restroom work is finished and the city updates the closure, do not promise a continuous step-free route or usable restroom.
