About Circus World

Circus World is a Wisconsin Historical Society museum on the original Ringling Bros. Circus winter-quarters site in Baraboo. Across 64 acres, seven National Historic Landmark structures, exhibit buildings, a restoration center, and more than 260 historic wagons and vehicles interpret the art, business, logistics, performers, and material culture of the American circus.

The Ringling Bros. used Baraboo as their home base from 1884 through 1918. Local preservation work later gathered the surviving winter-quarters buildings and circus artifacts, and Circus World opened on July 1, 1959. What began with less than an acre and six wagons developed into a nationally significant collection and operating historic site.

The 2026 summer performance season includes the Jubilee 250 Big Top show, Kids' World Circus, animal and juggling programs, and a guided wagon tour. Spring and fall use reduced admission and museum-only operation without live performances. The selected date controls which buildings, programs, performers, animals, and borrowed wagons are actually available.

Circus World and Mid-Continent Railway Museum are independent destinations. A train ticket does not include Circus World admission, and the circus museum's ticket does not reserve a train. Build the day around the fixed railway departure and verify both sites before travel.
