About The Elegant Farmer
The Elegant Farmer began in 1946 as Dave and Elmer Scheel's family dairy farm and roadside produce stand. The brothers shifted toward the Davelmer Market, pioneered pick-your-own activity on the 65-acre farm, and the next generation renamed the business The Elegant Farmer in 1970.
Today the local, family-owned operation combines a Farm Kitchen Bakery, Deli & Market with fresh and prepared foods. Its signature Apple Pie Baked in a Paper Bag is produced in large volume alongside fruit breads, muffins, crisps, cheeses, cider-baked ham, pulled pork, popcorn, and seasonal produce.
The market is open year-round from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. During Autumn Harvest Fest, the orchard adds apple and pumpkin picking, hayrides, a corn maze, pony rides, and seasonal food while East Troy trains serve the farm station.
