About Foley Railroad Museum & Model Train Exhibit

Foley Railroad Museum occupies the city's 1909 Louisville and Nashville depot at 125 East Laurel Avenue. The museum interprets the period when rail service helped make Foley an agricultural shipping center, using photographs, tools and artifacts inside the restored depot and full-size railroad equipment outside.

A separate 60-by-20-foot O-gauge Model Train Exhibit contains a quarter mile of track, about one mile of wiring, 84 freight cars, 50 passenger coaches and a replica of the L&N Hummingbird. Volunteers from the Caboose Club operate and maintain the miniature railroad, so its Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday schedule is narrower than the depot museum's Monday-Saturday hours.

The City also operates a small event train around Heritage Park. Its current facility page lists regular Saturday service from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with final boarding at 2:45 p.m. and weather-dependent operation. A May 2026 city announcement describes the ride as approximately 15 to 20 minutes and confirms that museum admission and event-train rides are free.

The museum page does not publish a complete accessibility chain for the depot, model-train room, preserved-equipment viewing or park-train boarding. Contact the Museums & Heritage Department before travel for step, transfer, wheelchair, stroller, seating, restroom or sensory details. The preserved full-size locomotive is a static exhibit and should not be confused with the ride vehicle.
