About Mt. Cuba Center
Mt. Cuba Center is the most substantial garden destination along the Wilmington & Western corridor. Its mission centers on the beauty and ecological value of native plants, expressed through formal gardens, naturalistic plantings, ponds, a trial garden, and research programs.
Visitors can also explore nearly three miles of trails across a 1,000-acre natural-lands setting. Free Welcome Walks are offered at published times, while classes, events, and group experiences follow their own calendars and prices.
The rolling terrain is part of the experience and a real planning constraint. Paved or hardscaped routes cover selected areas, but level terrain is limited. Accessible parking, loaner mobility devices, and golf-cart assistance to selected locations are available under the official guidance; contact the Center before traveling when route details matter.

Mt. Cuba Center is about 4.9 road miles from Greenbank Station and shares the Red Clay Valley landscape seen from longer railroad trips. It works best as a separate half-day stop; do not assume a Mt. Cuba-named train destination includes garden admission.

- AdmissionThe current 2026 ticket page lists $20 for adults, $10 for ages 6–17, and free entry for children 5 and under. Buy in advance or upon arrival.

Is Mt. Cuba Center included with a Wilmington & Western ticket?
No. It is a separate garden with its own admission. A train destination or picnic-grove reference to Mt. Cuba does not include garden entry.
How long should I allow?
Allow at least two hours for a meaningful garden visit and longer if walking the woodland trails. A train-and-garden day needs generous travel and check-in buffers.
Is Mt. Cuba Center wheelchair accessible?
Selected routes and services are accessible, but the terrain is rolling and not uniformly level. Review the official access guide and call about the exact garden areas you want to reach.
Can I bring a picnic?
Yes. Food and nonalcoholic drinks are allowed, shaded picnic space is available, and light refreshments are sold onsite. Outside alcohol is prohibited.
