About Naples Depot Museum

Naples Depot Museum occupies the restored Seaboard Air Line passenger station at 1051 Fifth Avenue South. Collier County Museums interprets the railroading boom of the 1920s alongside the broader technologies that changed Southwest Florida, using the depot, restored rail cars, interactive exhibits, a Seminole dugout canoe, a mule wagon, and an antique swamp buggy.

The county museum is not the operator of the miniature passenger train. Naples Lionel Train Museum is a separate nonprofit on the same property, with its own entrance address, seasonal hours, admission, phone, email, model layout, and outdoor ride. A visitor can combine them, but a county museum opening does not prove the train is running.

The depot was begun in 1926, completed in 1927, and listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Collier County's museum system says the present Naples Depot Museum opened in 2006 after renovation and exhibit work. Its restored 1947 Budd Tavern Observation Car adds a full-size streamliner artifact to a visit centered on local transportation history.
