Phillipsburg Railroad Historians is the most train-specific independent pairing near Delaware River Railroad Excursions. The nonprofit formed in 1990 to preserve the story of the five railroads that once converged in Phillipsburg and operates its museum on former Central Railroad of New Jersey yard land.

The four-acre collection includes local railroad artifacts, cabooses, locomotives, a railbus, trolley equipment, a gift shop, and restoration facilities. Its signature family experience is the Centerville & Southwestern, a two-inch-scale miniature railroad acquired from the former Becker Farm operation in Roseland and rebuilt on permanent track in Phillipsburg.
