About Phillipsburg Union Station

Phillipsburg Union Station is the last historic railroad station in Warren County and one of the town’s strongest surviving links to its five-railroad era. Delaware, Lackawanna & Western architect Frank J. Nies designed the Prairie-style building, constructed from 1912 to 1914 and shared with the Central Railroad of New Jersey.

Friends of the New Jersey Transportation Heritage Center owns the station and uses it for offices, archival storage, a mini-museum, and visitor and transportation information while continuing a phased restoration. The organization also preserves broader railroad, trolley, bus, and transportation collections.

The station is not advertised with daily museum hours. Public interior access is tied to announced events, and the owner’s current site does not publish a dependable recurring schedule. Active Norfolk Southern lines run on both sides of the building; visit only during an authorized public opening and remain completely off tracks, bridges, and railroad property.
