About Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum

Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum is a separate volunteer organization whose ordinary public entrance is the restored 1909 Industry Depot at 282 Rush Scottsville Road. Public dates combine a mile-and-a-half round-trip vintage diesel train ride with railroad exhibits at both ends of the museum line.

The museum is not open daily. Its current 2026 calendar uses named event dates, ordinarily from 10 a.m.–2 p.m., and recommends advance tickets because individual departures can sell out. A few joint events change the boarding point, so the exact event page must control the trip.

The collection includes two small steam locomotives, but the current visitor FAQ says both are stored pending restoration and are not open to the public. Visitors should expect diesel power unless a future dated operator notice explicitly says otherwise.
