About Suisun–Fairfield Capitol Corridor Station
Suisun–Fairfield is an unstaffed Amtrak station at 177 Main Street serving both Suisun City and Fairfield on the Capitol Corridor. It is independent of the Western Railway Museum and approximately 15,255 meters, or 9.48 miles, away in a straight line. A train ticket does not include museum admission, reserve a historic-train departure, or provide the last-mile transfer.
Current Amtrak information lists a ticket kiosk, no staffed ticket office, no checked baggage or storage, 24-hour kiosk and parking access, and a waiting room open 7 a.m.-2 p.m. daily. Its feature panel says no restrooms, while its accessibility panel and Caltrans page say accessible restrooms; treat restroom availability as a current-source conflict and verify if essential.
Caltrans publishes an accessible waiting room, accessible restroom, wheelchair lift, accessible parking, and bike lockers, but no high platform, elevator, water fountain, bag storage, or baggage assistance. The low-level boarding arrangement is distinct from the museum, whose historic ride cars are not wheelchair accessible.
The museum explicitly says no connecting bus serves it from the station on weekends. Rio Vista Delta Breeze Route 50 runs Monday-Friday and can deviate by advance request on a space-available basis, but its published fixed stops do not make the museum a guaranteed connection. Arrange a paid ride, confirmed weekday deviation, and return plan with schedule margin.
What stands out
Begin on an active railroad
Use Capitol Corridor to add a real intercity rail segment from Sacramento, Davis, Oakland, San Jose, or an intermediate station.
Separate station from museum
Keep the Main Street arrival and Highway 12 museum distinct, with independent tickets, access rules, and a 9.48-mile straight-line gap.
Plan low-platform boarding
Use the published wheelchair lift and accessible route while recognizing there is no high platform or staffed assistance.
Build a resilient return
Check the live train, arrange the last mile both directions, and leave margin for on-time museum departures and an unstaffed station.
Pair it with the train
Why it belongs in a Western Railway Museum trip
Ranked first because it creates the only promoted train-first path to the museum. It is not a walkable companion stop: current museum guidance says no weekend bus, Thursday Delta Breeze service needs direct reservation and route confirmation, and both directions require margin around the museum's on-time departures.
Before you go
Plan your visit
- Rail serviceUse the current Capitol Corridor timetable or trip planner; the April 11, 2026 timetable publishes weekend Suisun–Fairfield stops in both directions.
- Station hoursThe current Amtrak station page lists the waiting room daily from 7 a.m.-2 p.m.; parking and the Quik-Trak kiosk are listed 24 hours.
- TicketsThe station is unstaffed with no ticket office; an Amtrak ticketing kiosk is listed. Buy the correct Capitol Corridor itinerary before relying on the platform.
- AccessibilityThe station has an accessible route and wheelchair lift but no high platform. Ask Amtrak for current boarding help; this does not make the museum's historic train accessible.
- Restroom conflictAmtrak's feature list says no restroom, while its accessibility panel and Caltrans say accessible restroom. Verify current availability instead of promising it.
- BaggageNo checked baggage, bag storage, baggage carts, or station baggage assistance is listed.
- ParkingSame-day accessible parking is published, and Caltrans also lists overnight accessible parking; Amtrak says ordinary overnight availability is unknown and space is not guaranteed.
- Weekend transferThe museum says there is no connecting weekend bus. Prearrange a ride both ways and do not treat the straight-line distance as a walking route.
- Weekday busDelta Breeze Route 50 operates Monday-Friday with deviations available by request, first-come and space-available. Call 707-374-2878 and confirm the exact museum transfer.

Useful answers
Frequently asked questions
Is Suisun–Fairfield station part of the Western Railway Museum?
No. It is an active Amtrak station at 177 Main Street. The independent museum is at 5848 State Highway 12.
Can I walk from the station to the museum?
This guide does not recommend it. The sites are about 9.48 miles apart straight-line, the legal route is longer, and the museum says there is no weekend connecting bus.
Does a bus connect the station and museum?
Not on weekends according to the museum. Delta Breeze Route 50 is weekday-only and deviations require advance confirmation, space, and an acceptable route.
Is Suisun–Fairfield station accessible?
Caltrans and Amtrak publish an accessible route, waiting room, restroom, parking, and wheelchair lift, but no high platform, elevator, or station wheelchair.
Are restrooms available?
Official panels conflict: Amtrak's features say no restrooms, while Amtrak accessibility and Caltrans say accessible restrooms. Verify current access if it matters to your trip.
Can I buy a ticket at the station?
A Quik-Trak kiosk is listed, but there is no staffed ticket office. Use the live Amtrak or Capitol Corridor purchase path and arrive with time.
Can I check or store baggage?
No checked baggage, storage, carts, or baggage assistance is listed at this unstaffed station.
How early should I arrive?
Amtrak's station page says at least 30 minutes before departure. Add more time for an unfamiliar low-platform station or requested accessibility support.
