About 1880 Town

South Dakota's Original 1880 Town has more than 30 buildings from the 1880 to 1920 era, authentically furnished with thousands of relics and more!

Nearby

Murdo, the county seat of Jones County, South Dakota, is a town of fewer than five hundred residents set about halfway between Rapid City and Mitchell. It was founded around 1907 by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad and once supported a roundhouse, railyard, and passenger station; the town honors the name of cattle baron Murdo MacKenzie and is the hometown of U.S. Senator John Thune. Expect a continental climate of cold winters, hot summers, and quiet small-town surroundings.
