History
The Arizona State Railroad Museum is, for now, a museum in the making. Its nonprofit foundation was established in 2009 in Williams, Arizona, to preserve historic railroad equipment once used throughout the state, with the founding group aiming to build railroad heritage into the Williams economy. Led by chairman and CEO Albert J. Richmond, with Donald Dent as director and secretary, the foundation plans a 21-acre museum campus adjacent to the Grand Canyon Railway's trackage near Interstate 40, intended to display locomotives, passenger cars, freight cars, and other artifacts representing Arizona's railroad history. The museum does not yet have a physical location open to visitors, but it has continued acquiring pieces for its collection while the campus remains in planning.
