The Trains
Dated public ride descriptions call the attraction a miniature train with a cattle car and caboose and say the McKenzie family of New Franklin donated it to Guilford Township. They do not publish a current locomotive identity, builder, power, gauge, consist count, capacity, seating, restraint, or accessible boarding configuration. Norlo Park separately displays full-size railroad artifacts, including cabooses, a flatcar, bridges, the relocated Quincy station, and a recreated wooden vinegar tank car. Those static exhibits are not part of the miniature passenger consist.
History
The Mont Alto Railroad right-of-way through the future park connected Scotland with the Waynesboro branch of the Cumberland Valley Railroad.
The future vinegar car was built as a flatcar; National Fruit Products added its tank in 1939.
Guilford Township purchased the 143-acre former Norlo farm.
The Winchester NRHS Chapter donated the preserved vinegar car to Guilford Township.
Township workers completed and installed the replacement cypress vinegar tank.
The published free-ride season ran on six first-and-third Saturdays from June 6 through August 15.

Guilford Township purchased the 143-acre former Norlo farm on September 17, 1998; the name joins former owners Norman and Lois Sollenberger. The miniature train later came to the township from the McKenzie family and has been staffed on public ride dates by Cumberland Valley NRHS volunteers. The park’s deeper railroad context follows the former Mont Alto Railroad right-of-way, completed in 1879 to connect Scotland with the Waynesboro branch of the Cumberland Valley Railroad and later associated with the Pennsylvania Railroad. A 1929 flatcar converted to a vinegar tank car in 1939 was donated to the township in 2005 and installed in 2006; township workers replaced its deteriorated tank with cypress construction in 2013-2014.

Chambersburg Heritage Center is an independent, free companion about 5.0 driving miles from Norlo Park. Its transportation exhibit extends the Cumberland Valley story, but weekday hours and separate downtown logistics mean it is not an automatic same-day pairing for a future Saturday train.
