About Old Road Dinner Train
Dinner on the Old Road means dining cars rolling over one of America's oldest railroad routes — track first laid by the Erie and Kalamazoo Railroad in 1834. The Adrian and Blissfield Rail Road hosts the train at Blissfield in Michigan's Lenawee County, with a sister run at Charlotte behind the last GE 44-ton switcher ever built. It is small-town short-line railroading served with a meal.

The Trains
Motive power on the Charlotte leg is a GE 44-ton switcher — the last 44-tonner General Electric ever built — which handles the dinner train along with any freight work, pulling a three-car passenger set with two more cars held in reserve. The parent Adrian and Blissfield fleet stood at ten locomotives as of April 2025.
History
See full history
The Old Road Dinner Train is the passenger face of the Adrian and Blissfield Rail Road Company, a Michigan Class III short line incorporated on February 6, 1991, which operates twenty miles of track between Adrian and Riga in Lenawee County. The name is earned: the route is one of the oldest operating railroad lines in the United States, originally built in 1834 by the Erie and Kalamazoo Railroad. The dinner train runs out of Blissfield, while a sister operation rolls at Charlotte on the Charlotte Southern Railroad, another short line run by Adrian and Blissfield that links Charlotte with the CN rail system.
