About Oregon Electric Railway Museum
Riding the historic trolleys along the museum’s one‑mile, overhead‑wired mainline offers a glimpse of early electric transit amid the rolling fields north of Salem at Powerland Heritage Park. The line, operating Saturdays from May through October, threads through a four‑track carbarn that houses an international collection of streetcars from the United States, Europe and Asia. As the largest streetcar and trolley museum in the Pacific Northwest, it preserves and showcases the region’s electric‑rail heritage.

History
See full history
The Oregon Electric Railway Historical Society founded the museum in 1957, with the organization formally opening its Glenwood site in 1959. Streetcar service began there in 1963 and expanded to regular operation in 1966. After operating on a 1.7‑mile line on a 26‑acre former logging‑railroad property, the Glenwood location closed in autumn 1995. The society reopened the museum at Brooks, Oregon, in 1996, establishing about one mile of mainline track and a four‑track carbarn. It is now recognized as the largest streetcar and trolley museum in the Pacific Northwest.
