The Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association was founded in 1961 as the San Diego County Railway Museum. In 1988 the organization changed its name to the San Diego Railroad Museum, a title it kept until 2000. That year it adopted its current name, Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association, under which it continues to operate as a railway museum in California.
