The Trains

The railway at Tiny Town is a 15 in (381 mm) gauge ridable miniature line, run with live-steam power, that loops around the one-sixth-scale village of over 100 buildings. During the operating season, which runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, trains depart every 30 minutes.

History

See full history

Tiny Town began in 1915 as Turnerville, a miniature town that George Turner, owner of the Denver firm Turner Moving & Storage and a friend of Buffalo Bill Cody, started building for his daughter near Morrison, Colorado. He opened it to the public in 1921, and Turnerville quickly ranked among the state's most popular attractions, even as repeated flooding from adjacent Turkey Creek battered the site and a 1935 fire destroyed its Indian pueblo. The miniature railway arrived in 1939, the same era the attraction took its present name, Tiny Town. Today the park preserves a village of more than 100 buildings constructed at one-sixth scale, circled by its 15-inch gauge railroad in the foothills outside Morrison.
