Dickinson County Heritage Center is the best family-oriented museum pairing beyond the immediate depot district. Its signature artifact is an operating 1901 C.W. Parker carousel made in Abilene and recognized as a National Historic Landmark.
The museum campus broadens the visit with county-history interpretation, a Museum of Independent Telephony, and a Farm Toy Museum. That mix works for groups whose interests extend beyond trains while retaining machinery, transportation, communications, and local-industry themes.
