The depot is both the arrival point and the nonnegotiable return point. A locomotive turning move can be a signature part of the stop, but equipment, operating conditions and the day’s plan determine what visitors actually see. Stay behind barriers and follow crew directions.

The adjacent Thrasher Carriage Collection is a satellite of Allegany Museum and interprets pre-automobile transportation through a major collection of horse-drawn vehicles. Its very short seasonal hours do not cover every train day: the published 2026 schedule is generally 12:30–2:30 p.m. on selected Thursday-to-Sunday dates from May into December.

A 90-minute layover is enough for the turntable area and a focused museum visit when it is open, but not enough to treat the depot, museum and Main Street as three full attractions. Choose one primary layover plan and return early for boarding.
