About Herr’s Mill Covered Bridge
Herr’s Mill Covered Bridge originally crossed Pequea Creek and a millrace near Paradise Township. The two-span Burr-arch structure became a Lancaster County landmark and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places before its private owner sold it to Stone Gables Estate in 2018.
The bridge was carefully dismantled, and one span was reconstructed at the Elizabethtown estate in 2019–20. Preservation accounts say most of that span’s original truss material and its limestone were reused; plans for the second stored span have been tied to a future railroad crossing.
The photographs here document the full bridge at its former location, not the current single reconstructed span. That distinction matters: visitors should not drive to the old Soudersburg location expecting the bridge, and they should not enter the current private estate without an authorized event or reservation.
