About Harrisburg, Lincoln & Lancaster Railroad

Stone Gables Estate is the perfect place to hold your “Events with a Purpose”. Two exquisite venues that sprawl over 275 acres of scenic vistas and trails.

History

The Harrisburg, Lincoln & Lancaster Railroad is the tourist line of Stone Gables Estate, a 275-acre events property in Elizabethtown whose owners also opened the Star Barn Complex there. In 2018 the estate purchased the operating replica of the Leviathan — Central Pacific No. 63, a sister to the Jupiter of Golden Spike fame — a locomotive painstakingly constructed between 1999 and 2009 by Dave Kloke's Kloke Locomotive Works of Elgin, Illinois, and rented out to tourist railroads and museums across the Midwest and East before coming to Pennsylvania. Stone Gable relettered the engine as Pennsylvania Railroad No. 331, honoring the now-scrapped locomotive that pulled President Abraham Lincoln's funeral train in 1865, and it is expected to steam more than 100 days a year for public excursions and special and private events. In November 2025 the railroad unveiled the engine's completed 1472-day inspection and rebuild, finished in ten months by contractor Horneman Enterprises.

The Trains

The railroad's star is the full-size working replica of the 1868 Central Pacific 4-4-0 Leviathan, No. 63, built between 1999 and 2009 by Kloke Locomotive Works using plans, blueprints, research and patterns borrowed from the earlier O'Connor Engineering replica of its sister engine Jupiter. Though faithful in appearance, the engine carries modern equipment — an oil bunker in place of wood fuel, air brakes, a small rear tender headlight, and a varnished wooden cab. At Stone Gables Estate it runs lettered as Pennsylvania Railroad No. 331, the Lincoln funeral train engine, and was freshly rebuilt in 2025.
