Hull Rust Mine View faces an active open pit formed from dozens of separate mining properties over more than a century. The dedicated attraction site describes a landscape measured in miles, shaped by both historic natural-ore mining and modern taconite production. It is an overlook, not a mine tour: visitors remain at the public center while work continues across the pit.

The City of Hibbing opened a new visitor-center complex for the 2025 season and continued exhibit installation for 2026. Current city reporting highlights new geological and cultural interpretation, including an Ojibwe-themed mural developed with Bois Forte and the Science Museum of Minnesota. The visitor center therefore adds more than a distant view, although exact exhibit access should still be checked on the day.

The site also explains why Hibbing is called the town that moved. As the mine expanded, the community relocated buildings roughly two miles south during the late 1910s and around 1920.
