About Oklahoma History Center

Oklahoma History Center is the Oklahoma Historical Society's 215,000-square-foot museum and research complex on an 18-acre site near the State Capitol. Its five main galleries interpret the state's land, people, culture, transportation, commerce, military history, and popular culture. The center is a Smithsonian Affiliate.

The Inasmuch Foundation Gallery supplies the strongest railway-trip connection through transportation and commerce. The current The Longest Stretch exhibition adds Route 66 context during the highway's 2026 centennial. Exhibitions can rotate, so use the live exhibit list rather than treating every historical gallery photograph as a current floor plan.

Public museum hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Research Center uses a narrower Tuesday–Saturday 10 a.m.–4:45 p.m. schedule. The museum and research operation close on specified state holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day; verify the chosen date.
