About South Carolina State House
The South Carolina State House is the seat of state government and a public landmark built of blue granite between 1855 and 1907.
Free guided and self-guided visits introduce the Governor's office, House and Senate spaces, architecture and state history, subject to legislative sessions and closures.
A major 1995-1998 renovation strengthened the building for earthquakes while restoring historic interior and exterior features.
The dedicated Parks page and legislative page differ on whether a 3:30 p.m. weekday tour is offered. Use the current Parks schedule, call to confirm, and do not infer access or security procedures from photographs.
