About South Carolina Railroad Museum
The South Carolina Railroad Museum is an all-volunteer nonprofit museum operating public excursions on its Rockton, Rion & Western Railroad. The Trains
The museum preserves locomotives, interurban coaches, cabooses, passenger cars, a 1924 dining car and industrial equipment. Current excursions use varying car configurations, including open-air and historic cars, but the operator does not guarantee a locomotive or consist. H&B steam locomotive No. 44 is collection context; Steam Trains are not scheduled for 2026.

The museum was established in 1973. In October 1983, Martin Marietta Aggregates donated the former Rockton and Rion Railway, which the museum renamed the Rockton, Rion & Western Railroad. The nonprofit now preserves South Carolina rail history while operating public excursions from Winnsboro.
