About Brunswick Railroad Museum
Inside the former Improved Order of Red Men lodge, just under a block from the Brunswick MARC station, a huge interactive HO‑scale model recreates the Baltimore & Ohio passenger line that ran from Union Station in Washington, DC to the Brunswick freight classification yards. The layout shows the late‑1950s Metropolitan line and the 5‑mile (8 km) yards, while surrounding exhibits present railroad equipment, photographs, Victorian costumes and local social‑history artifacts.

History
See full history
The Brunswick Railroad Museum opens its doors in 1966 as a nonprofit dedicated solely to railroading. In 1974 the organization acquires the former Improved Order of Red Men fraternal lodge—a three‑story brick building erected in 1904 and bought by the Fraternal Order of Eagles on June 1, 1936—to house its growing collections. The museum retains the lodge’s historic “wigwam” façade and later expands its mission to encompass the broader history of Brunswick, prompting a name change to Brunswick Heritage Museum in 2013. Its third‑floor exhibit features a HO‑scale model of the B&O Metropolitan line that includes the Brunswick classification yards, which, when completed in 1907, were the largest and most modern yards in the nation serving a single railroad.
