About Inland Northwest Rail Museum
The Inland Empire Railway Historical Society operates the Inland Northwest Rail Museum on a 30-acre site west of Reardan. The regular visitor ride is a 2-foot-gauge property train called the Reardan Rocket. History
Rail enthusiasts formed the Inland Empire Railway Historical Society as a local National Railway Historical Society chapter.
The society began cleaning and painting retired Union Pacific locomotive 3206 in Spokane's Highbridge Park.
Union Pacific 3206 became the first collection piece moved to the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds.
The society selected a 30-acre parcel west of Reardan for a permanent museum site.
A donated Union Pacific turntable was installed at the Reardan property.
The museum building was completed and the Reardan museum held its grand opening on August 27.

Rail enthusiasts formed a local National Railway Historical Society chapter in 1967 under the Inland Empire Railway Historical Society name. Union Pacific 3206 became the first major preservation project in 1970 and moved to the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds in 1978. After the society selected the Reardan property in 2002, volunteers developed display tracks and installed a donated turntable in 2012. The current building was completed in 2016 and opened to the public on August 27 of that year.
