Around the Depot
Medford anchors southern Oregon's Rogue Valley, a warm, sunny pocket in the rain shadow between the Cascade Range and the Siskiyou Mountains. The seat of Jackson County and Oregon's eighth-most-populous city began as an 1883 townsite on the Oregon and California Railroad; today it is the regional hub, home of fruit-and-gift merchant Harry and David and a gateway to the Rogue Valley wine country. Nearby sit Jacksonville, the Upper and Lower Table Rock formations, the trails of Roxy Ann Peak, and, farther out, Crater Lake.
