The Trains
The current official motive-power roster says Louisville & Nashville GP7 No. 405 is active on the head end of museum excursions between Nashville and Watertown. Current ride pages advertise a restored streamlined stainless-steel passenger train with coach or dining-car seating, dome car 9400, and premier service on selected products. Do not convert the broader collection into an operating roster: F7A No. 819 is under restoration, F7A No. 815 remains unrestored, and NC&StL steam locomotive No. 576 is a separate Nashville Steam restoration project. The selected ticket product and operator remain the authority for the actual locomotive and cars assigned on the day.

The museum preserves the story of the Tennessee Central Railway and later regional railroad service through artifacts, equipment and public excursions. Its own published chronology places the first museum excursion in 1989, while the current homepage markets Nashville railroad experiences since 1991; those statements describe different public milestones and should not be collapsed into an invented founding year. The organization later developed regular themed trips over the Nashville & Eastern corridor. In 2019, NC&StL steam locomotive 576 moved from Centennial Park to the museum property for Nashville Steam restoration work, a preservation project distinct from the current diesel-led excursion program.
