The excursion showcases a collection of nine restored diesel‑electric engines and thirty additional cars and engines, all operated by volunteers. The Tennessee Central Railway Museum begins its public service in 1991, when it opens in Nashville, Tennessee, to provide historic railroad experiences. It operates as a non‑profit organization from its inception, with all staff and volunteers dedicated to preserving the region’s rail heritage. Since its founding, the museum has remained under the same nonprofit ownership, maintaining continuous operation of its heritage railroad and museum facilities.
