The History Center is a public history and archives institution in Diboll, a small Angelina County city in East Texas that took its name from J. C. Diboll, a local timber salesman. The center's mission is to gather and safeguard the documentary record of the East Texas region and make it available for educational use. Its hometown sits eleven miles south of the county seat of Lufkin on U.S. Route 59 and counts among its notable natives Arthur 'Buddy' Temple Jr., president and CEO of Temple Industries (later Temple-Inland), the major forest-products manufacturer long tied to the town.
