About Manasquan Reservoir
Manasquan Reservoir is a substantial outdoor counterpoint to the short train ride. The 770-acre reservoir sits within 1,381 acres of woods and wetlands with a five-mile perimeter trail, one-mile nature trail, fishing, playground and seasonal boat access.
The important 2026 planning fact is a closure: the Environmental Center and adjacent picnic-area trail work remain under renovation, with reopening now expected in spring 2027. Outdoor programs may use other locations, but do not drive to the Environmental Center expecting its exhibits to be open.
Use the Visitor Center at 311 Windeler Road for the observation deck, restrooms, boating activities and current orientation. Park opening and closing times change by season and sunset; consult the live county page on the day of the trip.
