About Cimarron Valley Railroad Museum

The Cimarron Valley Railroad Museum in Cushing, Oklahoma, presents a brick‑replica depot set beside an outdoor collection of historic rolling stock. Visitors view a Union Pacific business car, a Santa Fe caboose, and additional equipment arranged amid the plaza’s open space. The static exhibit offers close‑up observation of early 20th‑century freight and passenger cars, illustrating the region’s agricultural‑commodity rail service without any train rides.

The Trains

The Cimarron Valley Railroad operates 254 miles of standard‑gauge track that links Dodge City, Kansas, with Boise City, Oklahoma, and also runs from Satanta, Kansas, to Springfield, Colorado. Its museum display in Cushing, Oklahoma, features a Union Pacific business car and a former Santa Fe caboose among other static pieces. The line, originally built around 1912, continues to haul wheat, corn, milo, sand, cement, poles, pipe and fertilizers.

In November 2009 the Kansas Department of Transportation and partner agencies announced plans to renovate and upgrade the route. On November 1 2020 Jaguar Transport Holdings purchased the Cimarron Valley Railroad, assuming ownership of the 254‑mile system.
