Around the Depot
Newark Valley is a Tioga County village of roughly a thousand residents in upstate New York, northwest of Binghamton, its name a nod to Newark, New Jersey. First settled around 1792 and incorporated in 1894, it lies in the valley of the East Branch of Owego Creek, strung along Main Street where Route 38 runs through town. The village wears its past openly — the Tappan-Spaulding Memorial Library, the Knapp House, and several other local landmarks are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
