Around the Depot
Waycross is the county seat and only incorporated city of Ware County in southern Georgia, and the closest city to the famed Okefenokee Swamp. Rail fans will appreciate that lines from six directions meet here — CSX's Rice Yard, a major hump classification yard with the railroad's largest locomotive and car shops, still anchors the town. Two historic districts and several National Register properties reward a downtown stroll, and Jacksonville, Florida sits roughly 81 miles away for those extending a trip.
