About Pueblo Railway Museum
Pueblo Railway Museum is an all-volunteer Pueblo Railway Foundation program that operates real full-size train and speeder rides during public events in the trainyard behind Pueblo Union Depot. The official calendar lists nine upcoming 2026 dates from August 22 through December 24. The Trains
Colorado & Wyoming GP7 locomotives 102, 103 and 104 are the museum's main motive power for big trains at public events. The official roster says all three continue to work for the museum, but the operator does not guarantee which locomotive, caboose or other car will be assigned to a particular date. Speeders can operate instead of the full-size train, and some events offer both. ATSF 4-8-4 No. 2912, Department of Transportation locomotive 001, the Peterson Canyon car, Rocket cars and other photographed equipment are collection context unless a current event notice says otherwise. No. 2912 received cosmetic restoration; it is not public-ride power. The advertised mini-train is a display and not the qualifying on-rail experience.
History
Baldwin built ATSF 4-8-4 No. 2912, now a static museum landmark.
Colorado Fuel & Iron purchased the locomotive that became GP7 No. 102.
Colorado & Wyoming purchased GP7 locomotives 103 and 104 for industrial service.
ATSF No. 2912 was moved to its present location behind Pueblo Union Depot.
The Pueblo Railway Foundation formed and acquired GP7s 102, 103 and 104 for preservation and operation.
GP7 No. 104 supported the Foundation's first public events.
The museum published a full public-event calendar with nine dates still upcoming as of August 16.

The Pueblo Railway Foundation formed in 2003 to continue and expand work begun by the Pueblo Locomotive & Railroad Historical Society. The museum is a program of that all-volunteer nonprofit, preserving and operating equipment that connects Pueblo's railroad, steel and testing history. Colorado Fuel & Iron bought GP7 No. 102 in 1951 and Nos. 103 and 104 in 1952 for Colorado & Wyoming industrial service. The Foundation acquired all three working locomotives in 2003, and No. 104 powered its first public events in 2004. ATSF No. 2912, built by Baldwin in 1944, moved from Pueblo's City Hall area to the depot yard in 1994 and later received a multi-year cosmetic restoration. The collection now turns local industrial history into event-day rides without treating every preserved artifact as operational.
