The RailGiants Train Museum originates in 1954, when the fixed‑construction site was established in California. It is owned and maintained by the Southern California Chapter of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society, which continues to operate the museum. In March 2020 the museum closed indefinitely because of the COVID‑19 pandemic, and after extensive renovations it reopened to the public in May 2022.
