Two-day ticketed public viewing June 15-16, 9am-3pm. Big Boy reunion with static 4012. Steamtown PIO projected 50,000-60,000 visitors over the two days. Locomotive then undergoes maintenance at Scranton June 17-30 (distant viewing during park hours).

Heavy traffic expected throughout downtown Scranton and on approach roads including I-81. COLTS officials will monitor crowd sizes and adjust shuttle operations if necessary. Steamtown NHS museum facilities described as wheelchair accessible. Portable restrooms available on site for display days; a large shade/shelter tent is set up adjacent to the queueing area. Advance timed-entry reservations REQUIRED via recreation.gov for all Jun 17-30 days — $1 service fee per ticket, nonrefundable. NO walk-up access; all reservations must be made online before visit. Entry up to 30 min before reservation time. Park closes 17:00 daily; all visitors must depart by 17:00. Jun 15-16 (display days, separate tickets): no general visitor parking on those days, pedestrian entry only via gates near Lackawanna Transit Center (30 Lackawanna Ave). No. No drones may be launched, landed, or operated from Steamtown National Historic Site. Union Pacific also does not permit drones during Display Days and requires drones to remain at least 25 feet laterally from the tracks when Big Boy is in motion.
