Conneaut Historical Railroad Museum

The Conneaut Historical Railroad Museum occupies one of the signature railroad landmarks on Ohio's Lake Erie shore: the brick passenger depot the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern erected in 1900 to replace an older wooden station. The depot passed to the New York Central in 1914, when that system absorbed the LS&MS, and served Central passengers before finding a second life in preservation — the building has housed the museum since 1964. In 1975 it joined the National Register of Historic Places under the name Lake Shore And Michigan Southern Passenger Depot. Outside, a display track holds the museum's centerpiece exhibit, Nickel Plate Road No. 755, a Berkshire-type steam locomotive, while the freight house connected to the station is operated separately by the Conneaut Area Historical Society.
