About Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village
Climb aboard a restored narrow-gauge train at Muddy Creek Forks, a preserved 1915 railroad village deep in the York County countryside. Sunday excursions run from June through Labor Day along the old Ma & Pa line, paired with a walk through the original general store, mill, and station — an unhurried day out about two hours west of Philadelphia.

The Trains
The railroad operates restored narrow-gauge equipment over a short stretch of the original line. The village itself preserves the 1899 A.M. Grove general store (with post office and railroad ticket office), a roller mill, a grain elevator, and a turn-of-the-century station — a working picture of a 1915 rail community.
History

The Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad — the 'Ma & Pa' — was a narrow-gauge line that wound roughly 77 miles between Baltimore and York. Muddy Creek Forks grew around the Peach Bottom Railway that reached it in 1875; today the Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad Preservation Society restores the village and runs heritage train rides on a section of the original right-of-way.
Around the Depot
Muddy Creek Forks sits in rural southern York County near Airville, amid the rolling farmland and creek valleys of the Susquehanna Riverlands. It pairs easily with a Lancaster County or lower-Susquehanna river day trip.
