History

See full history

The South Florida Railway Museum occupies the former Seaboard Air Line Railway station that was constructed in 1926 in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 5, 1990, recognizing its historic significance. In 2010 the Florida Department of Transportation completed a $380,000 restoration that replaced the roof, upgraded the lobby and restrooms, repaired the exterior walls and installed new air‑conditioning units. The museum remains in the restored 1926 station, preserving the site for public interpretation of regional rail heritage.
