The museum’s rolling‑stock collection includes Soo Line caboose #273, a Barney and Smith heavyweight coach numbered 991, and Soo Line GP‑30 locomotive #703, together with Milwaukee Road caboose #X00127, Minneapolis, Northfield & Southern caboose #018, Soo Line cabooses #256 and #273, and a Canadian National speeder #154‑33. Additional pieces comprise a Soo Line boxcar #36400 and assorted freight cars, while the depot also displays an extensive array of railroad lanterns, china and the nation’s largest railroad paperweight collection.

The Colfax Railroad Museum is set in a 1914 sandstone depot built by the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie railway, which once served western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota. The restored station now anchors the museum's collection of Soo Line equipment and railroad artifacts.
